ShootMe Screen Grabber for (Rooted) Android

ShootMe (Screen Grabber) is an app allowing you to capture a screenshot or record a video of any part of your Android phone’s screen. It’s probably the first application to achieve this without needing to connect to a PC, or to download the Android SDK. To shorten things a bit, ShootMe can capture your screen directly and save it to the phone’s memory.

Johan Cloetens , the developer says that “On higher end devices (a8/neon based) one can record movies as well” and “Only supports ***ROOTED*** devices. ” Samsung Galaxy Tab is one of the ‘higher end’ devices, it seems. I tried it out on a non-rooted device and came to know that non-rooted ones can only take screenshots. (Correct me if I am wrong)

1: First of all, you should root your phone. Here is an article that will help you do it in a few minutes.
2: Download ShootMe free from the Android Market.
3: Open ShootMe and tap Accept:

4: Choose whether you want to take a screenshot or a continuous screencast (video) and how to do it, from the top right icon. You can choose from four Working Options:

4: Now select Hide and depending on what type you chose, you either capture a screenshot by shaking, shouting, blocking the light sensor, or a video simply by tapping Hide. The video stops automatically stops when you open ShootMe again and tap on Quit. All your videos and screenshots (also in gallery) are stored under sdcard/shootme. You can change the Settings of your screenshots and screencasts by tapping the Menu Button.

ShootMe is an innovative app for tech reviewers and bloggers helping them to upload their reviews with live shots and videos. You can share these recordings straight on YouTube or your personal blog.

Audio support for movies/screencasts is under development.

The above statement means we shall indeed have even more fun with ShootMe, hopefully in the near future. Get it now!
